Camp Director

Gerry O'Donnel Camp DirectorGerry O'Donnell, the Director of the Metros Soccer Academy, is recognized as one of the nation's outstanding coaches. O'Donnell's celebrated coaching career began over twenty-five years ago. O'Donnell was instrumental in starting what's now called the Triangle United Soccer Association (TUSA). The Triangle United Soccer Association is the byproduct of a merger between the Durham/Chapel Hill STRIKERS Soccer Club 'and' Chapel Hill United.

Exceptional Training Staff

The staff of the Metros Soccer Academy is composed of this region's most qualified coaches and outstanding players. The experience and dedication of the staff enhances the development of the campers. In recent years, the following coaches have participated in our program:

Larry Conte

  • Coached at CHHS 1994 – 1999 and is the Assistant Director of the Camp

  • Played his college ball at the Univ. of South Carolina and his HS ball at Verona in New Jersey

  • He was awarded the Randy Peterson Athletic Scholarship

  • Played on the International Club Team in Denmark

 

 

Marc Sliney

  • Coach of the U-13 Strikers & at the Kantner School

  • Played & Captained Univ. of Birmingham England UK

  •  Played & Captained 1st. XI at High School

  • Played Men’s League in the UK and Coached in the UK

 

 

Naoshi Yamauchi

  • Coach of Saint Timothy and in the Strikers Soccer Club

  • Played at Appalachian State

  • At CHHS he was honored with PAC-6 POY, 1st. All South and was 4 time All Southern Conference

  • Currently you can see him play in the Latino League

 

 

Nozomu Yamauchi

  • Coaches in the Strikers Soccer Club

  • Played at both CHHS and ECHHS were he got every honor imaginable – All Conference /All Region / All State

  • Played his club ball with the Striker and then moved to Raleigh; from there to the US National Team (U-17).

  • Played his college ball at the Univ. of NC on the National Championship Team.

 

 

David Wren

  • Technical Training Director at Triangle United / NSCAA Advanced
        National Diploma /
     FA Coaching Cert (England)

  • Played for North England Team 

  • Played for Sunderland University

  • Played for Middlesborough Football Club

 

 

Sophie Gervais

  • Plays her college ball with the UNC Women’s National Champions Team.  She scored Three Goals this year.

  • Played on the NC ODP Team 1996-2000

  • Played her club ball with a number of club teams: Chantilly Hurricanes State Championship in 1995...played on the Carolina United Soccer Club State Championship in 1997...and lastly Greensboro Twisters as they won State Championships in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and were regional finalists all three of those years

  • Graduated from Chapel Hill High School 2001...played Varsity soccer from 1997-2001...played both on Defense and Offense...as a senior she was named all-conference, all-state, all-region and was the team’s captain and MVP.

 

 

Aran

Haven-O’Donnell

  • Former CHHS Player where he was: All-Conference, All-Region, Offensive MVP -Senior Year, Team Leading Scorer -Senior Year.  He also received the “Mr. PRIME TIME” award for the number of Crucial Game Winning Goals he scored.

  • First Year at Guilford College he was Third on the Scoring list for the Team.

  • Played and in Ireland, Holland and England.

  • He is the Camps Shooting demonstrator.

 

 

Jeff Hull

  • Plays his college ball at Appalachian State University

  • Former CHHS Player where he was All-Conference - Three Years, All-Region - Two years and All-State his Senior Year.

  • Played his Club ball with CASL and D/CH Strikers. 

  • Played and Toured in Brazil, Holland and England.

 

 

Chip Kepner

  • Head Coach Metros U-23 Program  (1995-1998)

  • CHHS Coach and D/CH Select Team Coach

  • Superior Instructor and Technician

  • Outstanding Player for the Raleigh Flyers (Professional Team)

 

 

Wendell Muldrow

  • CHHS Coach and D/CH Select Team Coach

  • Professional Player with: Colorado Foxes and Raleigh Flyers

 

 

Roy Lassiter Jr.

  • U.S. National Player

  • Professional Player with: Tampa Mutiny, DC United, and Miami Fusion (MLS Leading Scorer three-years-in-a-row).

  • Played Professionally in Costa Rica for Turriabla Futbol Club

  • Former All-American at NC State University
